TEMAZCAL CEREMONY

One of the most ancient traditions from the Mexican and Mayan cultures still alive today is the Temazcal—an ancient steam ceremony used for centuries as a place for the community to come together to heal, detox, and pray for the Earth and their ancestors. Working with the alchemy of fire, volcanic stones, and water, participants enter a metaphorical womb and journey through four doors, or portals, that connect them to the elements and bring them back to the essence of self through songs, prayers, and offerings.
